The Children's Cancer Institute of Australia |
More than 600 Australian children will be diagnosed with cancer this year. This week alone, three Australian children will die of cancer
Children's Cancer Institute Australia for Medical Research (CCIA) is the only independent medical research institute in Australia dedicated to research into the causes, prevention, better treatments and ultimately a cure for childhood cancer.
Our vision is to save the lives of all children with cancer and eliminate their suffering.
Our mission To be a leader in preventing cancer and finding ways of curing cancer in children through world-class research. To ensure the best possible quality of life for these children and their families. To share the vision with others and increase awareness, participation and funding.
Our logo boy is Joshua Barry. At the age of 16 months, he was diagnosed with an agressive form of Neuroblastoma and tragically passed away just before his second birthday. Capturing the hearts of researchers at CCIA with his story and photograph, his powerful image became our logo and a symbol to drive our researchers to find a cure for all children with cancer.

Jeans for Genes |
Jeans for Genes is a major fundraiser of the Children's Medical Research Institute. Chances are you probably know someone who has a genetic disease, because one in twenty children are born with some form of genetic fault. There are children with leukaemia, muscular dystrophy, genetic defects and many other disorders. The scientists at the Children's Medical Research Institute are working to try to prevent these diseases before they occur in our children, or where that is not possible to develop better treatments.

The Smith Family - Sponsor a Child |
Many disadvantaged children won't have had the benefit of early childhood learning experiences prior to starting school. Some will have experienced very little time reading with their parents, and most have fewer than 30 children's books in their home.
When a child attends school without things like a school bag, books, or the right sports gear or uniform, they find it extremely difficult to participate. Worse still, they are often shunned and ridiculed by other students. For some, this sets up a pattern of underachievement and social isolation that will literally last the rest of their lives.
Right now there are 680,000 disadvantaged kids in Australia1. Many will find themselves worse off in this uncertain economic climate. School for these kids brings only anxiety. They already know they'll find it hard to fit in. That they can't contribute. And that they'll struggle to keep up. Sadly, there will also be kids who will learn this lesson for the very first time

Daffodil Day |
If you have a mother, father, sister, brother or best friend, there's every chance your life will be touched by cancer. No matter who you are, Daffodil Day is for you.
It's a day for all of us to give hope for a brighter, cancer-free future for ourselves, and for those we love.
Your support will help us maintain the hope the daffodil symbolises to the thousands of cancer patients diagnosed each year.
Become part of the biggest event of its kind.
Daffodil Day was first held by the Canadian Cancer Society in the early 1980s, and by the NSW Cancer Council in 1986. Established as an Australia-wide event in 1992, Daffodil Day has become the largest fundraising event of its kind in the southern hemisphere. Cancer Council now raises around $8 million each Daffodil Day, providing vital funds for research, education and support services.
